I have approximately 4 acres of yard in Alabama which I mow with my Bush Hog RDTH72 finishing mower behind my JD 4300 hydro. My problem is that the yard isn't entirely level although it's not terrible by any means and it's very sandy soil. When the mower moves across an uneven section, it allows one of the four wheels to break contact with the ground and the wheel turns sideways on its caster. When the ground levels out again the soil is so soft that instead of the wheel turning on its caster it remains sideways and creates a large furrow. It has the solid rubber tires which are rather flat across the tread instead of the pneumatic tires which are more round (cross section wise). Does anyone have any ideas how to prevent this? Would the pneumatic tires have been a better choice? I don't think it's feasible to have my entire yard as flat as a pool table. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone provide information about idling a diesel tractor engine? Is it okay or should it be avoided? What are the consequences? Seems like I read somewhere that it was not good for the engine but I can't remember why. Regards.

I have a new John Deere 4300 hydro with a 420 loader. Occasionally, with the 3 point hitch raised, I hear the hydraulic system cycle (sounds like when you raise the hitch, but the hitch is already raised) and the hitch moves slightly. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Kenny, does this two position pedal adjustment apply to the JD 4300? Wouldn't mind if mine were easier to operate! Also, as my tractor doesn't get to the dealer often, is it something the mechanically inclined can handle?

I agree that the charcoal text is much easier to read but was wondering, why are the messages italicized? That's what really makes them hard to read. Normal text would be even easier on the eyes. Regards.

I have a John Deere 4300 with a 420 loader. I have used the loader in the "float" position which allows the bucket to follow the contour of the ground when you press the scv lever fully forward past the detent. Originally, the lever would stay in this position but now has to be held forward or it will spring back past the detent. Does anyone have any comments or thoughts on this issue? Regards.<br>
